Hello, welcome to my flower journey
If you are reading this, hi there! Thanks for reading :)
I decided to create this blog to document my flower journey. So for this very first post, I shall give a bit of introduction of my background :)
I started taking interest in flowers when I was 14. Back then, the bookstore was selling this felt material paper where we can fold them into flowers and make them into flower bouquets, and my flower journey begin when I was 14.
I followed the instruction and started wrapping many bouquets for my teachers , friends and my childhood idol haha. I lost track how many I have actually made.
Thereafter, I didn't have any flower encounter until I started working. One day, I was just thinking that perhaps I should take up a course and I signed up for a florist introduction course in the community centre. I must say that the course is great and I learnt a lot from my first teacher, this was in 2013.
In 2015, it did dawn on me if I should become a florist. However, I dispose the idea as I am terrified of lizards and they love to be with flowers. But flowers has always been in my mind subconsciously.
In Jan 2018, a friend of mine was sharing that she is using her skills future credit for a flower course and I was thinking, why not I join her since I need to use mine too. That was also a period where things aint great for me. Surprisingly, although I only intended to use up my credit, I found the flower course especially therapeutic. I felt so much better after attending the class and I then decided that maybe I should continue doing flowers.
I went back to the community centre to look for a class and joined the class. I also tried to look for schools where I can take a professional cert in the hope of becoming a professional florist. However, none of the schools I went to was appealing enough for me to sign up for a course with them and I continued to attend some courses in community centres, thanks to the one PA courses, I managed to still attend some class at a very affordable rate.
In late 2018, it was by chance that I attended 4 workshops overseas. I actually intended to go for a holiday, however, due to some reasons, I couldn't visit the place I wanted to visit and I was wondering what should I do, so, I attended flower workshops.
To date, I am very thankful to my friend Cherie who told me about attending flower workshop overseas. If not, I wouldnt have done that. After attending the 4 workshops conducted by 4 workshops conducted by 3 different teachers and company, I was totally blown away by the experience.
That was also the time I came in touch with preserved flowers :) Within 2 months, I flew back to the same place and got myself certified as a preserved flower florist. Before covid started, I continue my journey of attending flower workshops in different countries as I wanted to learn more about the different design styles in different country. So far, I have attended flower workshops in 3 other countries (and counting as I still want to attend workshop in other countries)
After I completed the certification, I started a company with the intention of growing it to a company of my own. However, as I was still holding on to a full time IT job, it was really hard to go full swing and many a times, I found myself having to give up my flower stuff so as to deliver my job.
Just 2 months ago, I decided to quit my full time job and fully concentrate on this flower journey. I don't know where will this bring me, but don't try don't know right? So this is my journey and my journey has just restarted now :)
So what do I intend to share? well, I guess I will share some of the things I have learnt, some of the challenges I have encountered and anything you wish to know :)
