Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day, to all daddy out there, including my 2 daddies, my Heavenly Father, Jesus, and also my biological father who has left us around 18 years ago.
Speaking of which, from time to time, I get requests to make bouquets for guys/man. To be honest, I am a traditional person who always think that bouquets are meant for ladies. If you look at my designs so far, you will see that most of them are more lady centred. I only grew to be more comfy to make bouquets for man/guys I think since this year haha.
In most cases, I have the impression that sunflower is the safest and nicest choice for guys/man. However, this year, I received a special request to make a orchid themed Father's Day bouquet, orchid bouquet? Ok, honestly, I have never received such request before!
I usually will brainstorm and also take a look at what's in the market i.e. take reference (yes for budding florist, I think taking reference is the best way to keep learning). However, there isn't much examples out there. I honestly also don't quite fancy those I saw.
I am also pretty tied up with personal and work matters at the moment, leaving me much lesser time to brainstorm and it actually slipped my mind for a while! Gosh!
Along the way, I also kept praying to Jesus. Yes, I am a Christian (as mentioned in the beginning of the post). Just to share a bit about this, actually, whenever I design or do my flower pieces, I pray more than half the times before I begin, to let Jesus guide me, give me the right inspiration and bless those who receives and order the flowers from me :) Especially when I find that it is something that is more challenging (like this orchid bouquet) which I honestly was a bit clueless on how to execute it, because what I had in mind didn't quite make the mark, so I just kept praying. As I pray, I start to form some ideas on how I want this bouquet to be.
Another interesting fact.. it is always at the back of my mind that I must do an orchid bouquet, because Singapore's national flower is this orchid called vanda miss joaqium. Also, Singapore is always being associated with orchid. That's why, I think it is important for me to have an orchid bouquet, since I am a Singaporean florist :) just that I am not sure if it will be well accepted.
For some reasons, to me, this is divine intervention, I ended up picking what I picked from this photo you see and made it into this bouquet. After making this bouquet, I have to say that it is by far one of my favourite bouquet :) Because it is one which I try to be non conventional, by making orchid the main flower and the roses are inserted to be the colour pop in this bouquet :)
Also, as I move along in my flower journey, I am more bold to do something that is completely different from what others are doing, This is how we can truly stand out isn't it :D
If you are reading this post, thanks for reading it and lets all do our part to keep trying, and keep going in the direction that puts a smile on our face!
